By car
If you’re travelling by car from Munich, take the A8 motorway in the direction of Salzburg and leave it at the Weyarn exit. Then drive through Miesbach, Hausham, and Schliersee until you reach the B307. Turn right up the Spitzingstrasse road, over the Spitzingsattel pass, and into the village of Spitzingsee until you reach the lake. If you’re travelling from Salzburg or Rosenheim, take the Irschenberg exit and drive through the Leitzachtal valley to Lake Spitzingsee. The Alte Wurzhütte is located on the far side of the lake, after which the area is car-free. You can park your car free of charge directly in front of our hotel.
By public transport
From Munich Central Station, there are direct connections almost every hour with the Bavarian regional train in the direction of Bayrischzell. Get off at Fischhausen-Neuhaus station and take the RVO bus number 9562 to the terminus “Spitzingsee Kirche”. From there, the Alte Wurzhütte is just a “Knödel dumpling’s throw” away, as we like to say here.
By plane
Munich Airport is about 100 kilometres away from the Alte Wurzhütte. Take the S1 or S8 train to get to Munich Central Station. From there, follow the instructions above to reach us by public transport.
By taxi or shuttle
Would you prefer to arrive stress-free and leave the driving to others? No problem. Several local operators will take you directly from Fischhausen-Neuhaus train station, Munich Airport or the surrounding area right to the doorstep of the Alte Wurzhütte.
